Sexion d'Assaut: Cérémonie

A new video for the track Cérémonie (Feat. Dry) by Sexion d'Assaut.

the track comes from the new edition of their L'Apogée album, originally released in March last year, which has gone on to be one of France's biggest rap albums.

The new video comes to mark the re-issue of the album in a special edition format with six extra tracks.

The video makes comment on the fact that despite the success the act has enjoyed, they've not been given the recognition from awards ceremonies that they might have been expected.

They've been performing live incessantly since the release of L'Apogée, and are continuing to sell out arenas around the country, as documented in their Concert Bercy Live CD and DVD released at the end of last year.

They play at the Olympia in Paris in June for two nights.

Sexion d'Assaut: J'reste debout

A new video from Sexion d'Assaut, the giants of French hip hop, another track from their album L'Apogée.

L'Apogée was released earlier this year, and has gone on to be probably the biggest French rap album ever. It has already sold triple platinum and with the continued release of songs as singles it certainly seems to have plenty of commercial life left in it.

A new edition of the CD sees it released with a bonus disc of six out-takes.

The video for the single was shot at Bercy in Paris and previews a Live à Bercy CD and DVD that was released earlier this month.

They have some live dates before the end of the year, and tour extensively in France, Switzerland in March, April and May next year.

Sexion D'Assaut - Wati House

France's number one hip hop act are back in the French singles charts with Wati House, a summer-vibed track from their massive-selling L'Apogée album.

The last few weeks have been fairly static on the French charts, with Carly Rae Jepsen holding the number one position for what seems like ages.  Nice to see some French hip hop giving it a challenge.

It's the fifth track from L'Apogée to be promoted as a single, another success from what must surely be one of France's most successful rap acts ever.

As ambassadors of the French rap scene, they've probably introduced rap to a wider audience than any previous act, and I'm sure their success will see other urban acts achieving considerable commercial success.

The album has already sold triple platinum in France, selling 350,000 copies so far.

Chart: Sexion D'Assaut: Ma Direction

Another appearance in the top area of the French singles chart by rap collective Sexion D'Assaut, with the song Ma Direction.

It's another track from their album l'Apogée, released earlier this year and already a double platinum seller and number one album in France.

The previous track Avant qu'elle parte made the top five in France and number one in Belgium, a song dedicated to their mothers perhaps appealing as it did to an audience that would normally be outwith the regular hip hop scene.

The band with their huge number of personnel, sub groups and collaborations are a major force in French rap,  and while the releases under the Sexion D'Assaut name attract huge attention and sales, the members off the band maintain an active presence across France's hip hop scene.

 Probably the closest equivalent would be an act like the Wu Tang Clan, a band whose influence spread across the entire hip hop scene on account of not only the number of members but also their continuous work outwith the 'mother ship'

Chart: Sexion D'assaut - Avant qu'elle parte

A look at the French charts after a few weeks, and a major hip hop tune doing very well at the moment.

Sexion D'assaut are probably France's biggest hip hop act, probably the closest equivalent to the Wu Tang Clan, with their floating membership - of up to over 20 members - around several core members, and various sub-groups made up from band members and associates.

Their 2010 album L'école des points vitaux went triple platinum. Their 2012 L'Apogée collection, released in March, reaching number one in France and was certified platinum two weeks after its release.

The song Avant qu'elle parte is a different tone to their previous work, with a more sentimental vibe. It is thought to be a tribute to the mothers of band members JR O Crom and Maska.
