Judah Warsky: La Voiture Ivre

As I noted last week, this year has so far been marked by the return of artists I've featured on this blog early in their careers releasing new material that has surprised and impressed me.

The idea of the artists facing a 'difficult album' after their debut seems to have gone, with artists producing confident works that show they have developed their skills displayed in their earlier work, taken things to a new level and gone beyond expectations.

I was looking back at a previous post about Judah Warsky and I found that it was posted within a few days of an earlier post about Owlle.

Judah Warsky is already onto his third album, with La Voiture Ivre the first single from the recently released Avant/Après album.

2012's magnificently titled Painkillers and Alcohol and 2014's Bruxelles showed Warsky was a singular talent among electronic artists, Painkillers and Alcohol described right here on this blog as 'a strange and unique piece of work.'

I was delighted to get his track Bruxelles, capital de l'europe featured on the soundtrack of a Scottish political news programme on a report about European politics. A lot has changed since then, but that distinctiveness he's always displayed remains to the fore Avant/Après.

There's no one like him and long may that continue.

Flavien Berger: Bleu Sous Marin

A great new clip by Flavien Berger for the track Bleu Sous Marin.

The video by Cosme Castro and Jeanne Frenkel was filmed in one take and was initially broadcast live on the youtube channel of the record company Pan European Recording.

It was broadcast live three times at the end of last month, and one of the takes was selected  to be the final video.

The track features on Flavien Berger's album Léviathan which was released in April  this year.

Flavien Berger: Abyssinie

 An aquatic excursion for Flavien Berger with the track Abyssinie.

I featured Flavien Berger in April with their track Rue de la Victoire, this is another slice of electronica from a stanger place than most.

Berger's debutr album Léviathan, a 2LP set,  was released at the end of April on Pan European Recording, and if you're quick you might still be able to pick up a vinyl copy of it.

Abyssinie is one of the ten tracks on it, as is his last video Rue de la Victoire and the track La Fête Noire, another single from earlier this year.

Berger played the We Love Green festival in Paris at the weekend, and has other live dates ahead including an appearance at the Route du Rock festival in St Malo in August.

New Acts: Flavien Berger - Rue de la Victoire

A video for the track Rue de la Victoire by Flavien Berger, an artist doing some very strange and interesting things with electronic music.

A very chilled start to the track soon gives way to something more substantial, and there are echoes of Sébastien Tellier here.

Berger's first release was his Mars balnéaire EP, relased in June last year. January 2015 saw the release of the three track Glitter Glaze EP and the following month the single La Fête Noire emerged
Rue de la Victoire  comes ahead of the release of Berger's debut album, due later this month.
