BB Brunes: Live set on Acoustic on TV5Monde

I've not followed TV5Monde's Acoustic show as regularly as I should have in recent months, and as a consequence I've been looking back at some of the recent sessions that I've missed.

Standing out is the set from October by BB Brunes, one of France's brightest modern rock acts.

This year marks ten years since the band released their Blonde comme moi debut album, a top ten hit in France that established them as one of France's most popular rock bands of their generation.

It's been five years since they released Long Courrier, an album that featured regularly on this blog.
BB Brunes recently released their fourth album entitled Puzzle, described as a more dance-orientated collection.

BB Brunes are touring France extensively form January until April next year and play the Elysee Montmartre in Paris on February 14.

The Acoustic show also an interview with Berald Crames and Adrien Gallo.

The tracks played during the session include Pyromane, Éclair Éclair, Lalalove U, Coups et blessures and Terrain vague.

Charlotte Gainsbourg: Deadly Valentine

Another new track by Charlotte Gainsbourg ahead of he relase of her new album later this autumn, with a video for the track Deadly Valentine.

The title track of the new collection, entitled Rest, came out earlier this month.

Charlotte's been busy with her film career over the past few years, and hasn't released an album since 2011's Stage Whisper collection of live material and out-takes.

Rest features collaborations with Paul McCartley, Daft Punk's Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo and Connan Mockasin and is released on November 17.

Téléphone - Les Insus - Live in Paris

An unprecedented gig in Paris tonight, as a (more or less) reformed Téléphone take to the stage.

Former Téléphone  bass player  Corine Marienneau isn't part of the band, which is why Jean-Louis Aubert, Richard Kolinka and Louis Bertignac are having to perform under the pseudonym Les Insus when they take to the stage at the Point Ephemere.

It's a tiny venue for such a historic appearance, given that there were rumours that a reformed Téléphone would play shows at the Stade de France just a couple of years ago.

What the appearance means is uncertain, however, another show has been added in Lille for September 15.

What is sure is that in forthcoming months a whole batch of Téléphone  reissues are scheduled, along with a various artists tribute CD that's already seen a version of Un Autre Monde by Superbus released.

Will France's new wave legends be back for long? The Point Ephemere's website makes it clear that if there's one concert not to miss this year, it's this one.

We'll see where it goes from here.

Christine and the Queens: No Harm Is Done

A new edition of Christine and the Queens Chaleur humaine album is coming out in November, the
release being preceded by the new single No Harm Is Done.

The new edition of the album comes out on November 6, this version suplimented with previously unreleased tracks and other material, including the English language version of the song Christine, entitled Tilted.

The new single, an English language track, features American rapper Tunji Ige.

Christine launched the track with a quote form Sylvia Plath : "I am calm. I am calm. It is the calm before something awful."

Christine and the Queens are playing live in arenas across France form the end of the month, with a show at the Zénith in Paris on September 25.

She then has show in North American in October and November.

Meanwhile, a US version of Chaleur humaine is expected to be released on October 16.

La famille Chedid: Anne, ma sœur Anne

An interview and a performance by La famille Chedid, an acts that spans generations of French musical talent.

The band, consisting of  Louis, Matthieu, Anna and Joseph Chedid played a series of  concerts at the Olympia in Paris, their set featuring both the hits of Matthieu Chedid - perhaps better known under his -M- pseudonym - and songs by his father Louis.

Anna and Joseph Chedid have both also musical careers, under the names Nach and Selim.

As well as an interview, the clip sees them perform the track Anne, ma sœur Anne.

La famille Chedid play festivals around France over the summer, and play at the Palais Garnier in Paris on September 6.
