A very quick new release by Yann Tiersen this weekend, with a live album of his gig at the Royal Festival Hall in London at the weekend being made available as a CD and download immediately after the show finished.Tiersen played at the venue on Friday night, and as he was playing the recording was recorded and mixed at Abbey Road studios as it happened.
Obviously it will be a recording in far better sound quality than any phone footage of the show might ever hope to capture.
For all he's an artist most closely associated with film soundtrack work, he's never been shy about performing on stage and presenting what could be seen as quite fragile and beautiful work in a live context.
His Infinity album is certainly a contender for the album of the year as far as this blog is concerned.
His tour continues in October and November, with dates in Europe, North American and South America.
He plays in Paris on October 27 at l'Olympia.
