Fauve: Tallulah

Another track being promoted as a single from the Vieux Frères partie 2 album by Fauve.

The album's been one of this year's best, and if their debut showed them as masters of the angry torrent of words, this new one showed them capable of a more colourful and varied sound, perhaps a more mature outlook and certainly one that's met with considerable commercial success.

It's a collection that has grown in its appeal with repeated listening, and if the new track Tallulah encourages others to tune on or to re-listen, they'll certainly come away the better for the experience.

Fauve are in their on-going tour at the moment, with gigs around France over the next few months and festival shows over the summer.

Fauve: Hautes Lumières

A new track by Paris-based collective Fauve, the first track from the follow-up to their Vieux Frères partie 1.

The album was one of 2014's key releases, with the band performing across France and elsewhere to support  it, establishing themselves beyond doubt as one of the country's most significant acts.

The new track, entitled  Hautes Lumières, shows a more upbeat and positive direction, with an epic and uplifting sound underscored by their distinctive vocal style.

The new collection, entited  Vieux Frères partie 2 is expected on February 16 and like its predecessor it will be awaited with impatience and expectation of something quite special.

Fauve: Infirmiere

A clip that's been around for just over a week by the mighty Fauve, for the track Infirmiere.

It comes from the collective's debut Vieux frères - Partie 1 which was released in February.

I liked the album, although I have to admit it didn't hit me with the impact that I maybe expected it would, but I have to say it has grown on me and this track is a perfect example of that.

It might not have the drama of some of their earlier songs, but it has a haunting and haunted quality, reminding me more of the likes of Arab Strap.

It has a similar melancholy and humanity and while I was initially a bit suspicious of their positioning themselves as a 'collective' and a 'spoken word' act, thinking it as a way to present rap without the hip hop stylings, I get the feeling that they're actually being more honest and direct in their approach rather than fulfilling genre expectations.

They've got a huge number of festival dates over the summer all over France and they release Vieux frères - Partie 2 later this year.

Fauve: De ceux

A great new clip by Fauve for the track De ceux.

Fauve are getting a huge amount of attention at the moment, not surprising given their position somewhere between the popularity and directness of rap and the more experimental areas of rock.

Fauve's debut album Vieux Frères - partie 1 is to be released on Feb 3 2014 in France and already looks like one of the things to look forward to in the new year.

A second disc will follow towards the end of 2014, which the band are writing at the moment and are to record in the spring.

They've got a schedule of live dates for 2014 already in place, with a show in Paris at the Bataclan on February 3 and another there on March 4.

Fauve released their debut EP Blizzard earlier in 2013, and a number of tracks are available as free downloads from Fauve's facebook page.
