Brigitte: Le Grand Journal appearance

An appearance last night by Brigitte on Le Grand Journal, the flagship show on French TV channel Canal+

The appearance saw them perform with a string quartet - The Free Bows - for the song Plurielle.

They also performed the tile track of their A bouche que veux-tu album.

A new edition of the album was released earlier this month, as a two CD edition with unrelerased material and a disc of tracks recorded with an orchestra.

They played at the Zénith in Paris earlier his week, a show that went ahead despite recent events. They later said: "To share that moment with you last night was extraordinary for our hearts."

Brigitte are still on tour, with shows in December and January until April, with shows across France, New Caledonia and Australia.

Louise Attaque: Live on Le Grand Journal

A live appearance by the newly-reconvened Louise Attaque on Le Grand Journal last night, with two
tracks including their new single Anomalie.

Le Grand Journal  is the flagship show on French TV channel Canal +

The bands' new single was released yesterday and comes ahead of a new album and a tour next year. It marks the return of one of France's most popular rock acts.

They reformed with three of the original four members of the band.

To these ears anyway, the live version sounds more like the old Louise Attaque, maybe the violin is just more prominent in the mix than on the studio version.

The band also performed J't'emmène au vent, one of the best known tracks form their 1997 debut album.

Nekfeu: Le Grand Journal

An appearance on the Le Grand Journal TV show last night by rapper Nekfeu, an artist who looks
likely to be one of the key hip hop acts of 2015

Nekfeu's a member of rap act 1995, who have released two  EPS and one album since their 2011 La Source debut.

His first solo album Feu was relased earlier this month, and it's been met with both critical and commercial success.

It set a record for number of downloads for a debut album by a French artist.

Singles released ahead of the album included Égérie, On verra, Nique les clones (Pt II),and  Tempête.

As Maître Gims did last year, Nekfeu is making a move from French rap scene figure into mainstream commercial success.

Jeanne Added:Le Grand Journal

A high-profile TV appearance from Jeanne Added this week, with two tracks on Le Grand Journal, the nightly Canal+ chat show.

Her appearance on the show came the same week as Muse played.

There were two tracks, A War Is Coming and Look at Them.

Her debut album Be Sensational was released at the beginning of this month. Both tracks feature on the album.

Jeanne Added certainly seems to be this year's rising act, hopefully following in the footsteps of Christine and the Queens in their rise from cult act to national treasure.

Chilly Gonzalez: Le Grand Journal

An appearance on Le Grand Journal by Chilly Gonzalez, on the back of the release of his album Chambers, which features his piano playing alongside a string quartet.

It's a unique take on classical music, which takes chamber music and reinterprets it as modern 21st century pop music.

Gonzalez established himself as an electronic artist, having trained as a classical pianist and enjoyed some success in his native Canada in a rock band. He would from 2004 both perform as a solo piano artist, and produce other artists including Feist and Jane Birkin.

Amongst his achievements, Gonzalez holds the record for the world's longest solo piano performance, after he played for over 27 hours in 2009 in Paris.

Hollydays: Les Insatisfaits

A nice piece of modern French pop by Hollydays, with the track Les Insatisfaits available as a free download for the next couple of days.

A very cool video as well from the Paris-based duo of Elise Preys and Sébastien Delage.

This week saw them feature on Le Grand Journal in their Presque célébre feature, introducing the band to a potentially massive audience.

Their new EP follows the release of the five track Des Animaux EP last year, which included a cover of a  Véronique Sanson song. Their debut release was love is just a Game

Better move quickly though, the track is only available as a free download until Monday March 30 when they release their EP.

Izïa: Le Grand Journal

A high-profile appearance by Izïa on Le Grand Journal, ahead of the release next month of her new album La Vague.

She performed her latest single, the title track from the forthcoming album.

Her new musical style caused some surprise, on first listen very different from her more rock orientated previous material, but repeated listening reveals that her new material has more in common with her earlier work than first thought.

A new direction, perhaps, but not a complete diversion.

La Vague is released on April 13.
