Johnny Hallyday: Rester Vivant Tour

A DVD released today to accompany Johnny Hallyday's recent Rester Vivant Tour live album.

The release documents his show in Brussels in March last year and has already appeared as a CD and vinyl collection.

The Brussels concert took place just days after a terrorist attack on the Belgian city, and the show kicked off appropriately with the song Rester Vivant, a track which has certainly earned its place in the pantheon of Hallyday classics.

Johnny, never one to rest on his laurels, has just announced a tour for 2017 with Eddy Mitchell and Jacques Dutronc under their Les Vieilles Canailles collective name.

The three put on a series of shows at Bercy in 2014, 2017 sees them play dates at arenas and festivals in June including Bercy in Paris on June 24.

With the certainty of night following day and the turning of the seasons, a new Johnny Hallyday live collection is being released on the back  of his last tour.

The album - Rester Vivant Tour - documents his live show in Belgium on march 26 this year, which was broadcast in cinemas around France. 

His set featured songs from throughout his long career, as well as numbers from De l'amour, his 50th studio collection, which was relased in November last year.

De l'amour album came out in the middle of his Rester Vivant tour, and was met with considerable critical success.

A number one seller in France, it went on to take the chanson album of the year award at the Victoires de la musique ceremony in February.

A couple of tracks, Blue Suede Shoes, Rester Vivant  and Noir c'est noir, have emerged ahead of the new album.

Rester Vivant Tour is available as a 2CD, 3CD or triple vinyl collection. A DVD is expected shortly.

A new tour by the indifatigable Johnny Hallyday got under way in Nîmes last night, with the first
night of the Rester Vivant tour the show being held at the historic Roman amphitheatre.

Hallyday finished his last tour at the venue, maybe there's something about its age and ancient history of gladiatorial combat that appeals to him.

Reports and reviews reveal, unsurprisingly, that Hallyday wore his customary black leather and shades, defying the summer heatwave.

The set included  Rester vivant from his most recent album, Carol, the Chuck Berry song played by the Rolling Stones in the early 60s, amd some of is best known numbers including O ma jolie Sarah, Quelque chose de Tennessee, Gabrielle and  Le pénitencier.

Hallyday's tour continues until March 2016, including a number of summer festival shows including events in La Rochelle, Monaco and Biarritz. there are three nights at Bercy in Paris on November 27, 28 and 29, and another two shows there in February.
