Saycet: Culturethèque interview

Hats off to Culturetheque for an interview with Saycet during his trip round the UK  as part of the Oui Love 2015 tour.

The tour saw him perform in London, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester alongside St.Lô & Acre Tarn.

The video features some nice footage of him performing as well.

Saycet featuring Juliette Armanet: Mirages

A session version of the track Mirages by Saycet featuring  Juliette Armanet on vocals.

It's a very different re-working of the title track of the most recent Saycet album which came out earlier this year.

I featured it at the time, it remains a great piece of work and this version of it is fascinating.

Juliette Armanet was one of the finalists in the Sosh aime les inRocKs lab" 2014 new music competition that was won by Feu! Chatterton.

Saycet relases an EP Mirage B Sides on October 16, featuring Mirages, Half Awake (feat. Yan Wagner) and Kermesse andt Cherries & Memories.

Saycet of course plays dates in the UK later this month as part of the Oui Love tour, with shows in London (27) , Newcastle (28), Glasgow (29) and Manchester (30)

Oui Love Tour: Saycet

A chance to see a couple of great French acts in the UK next month, with Saycet and St Lo playing four dates around the country as part of the Oui Love Tour.

The shows also include UK act Acre Tarn.

There are gigs in London, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester on the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th.

Last year the Oui Love tour brought  Andrea Balency and NLF3 to the UK for a series of dates.

I featured the track Mirages by Saycet earlier this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing a live performance.

Saycet release an EP entitled Mirage B Side ahead of the gigs.

French acts at the Great Escape festival 2015

Many of France's finest musical exports are playing at the Great Escape festival in Brighton this
weekend.

The event has in recent years become something of a beachhead for French acts, many of which have gone on to considerable success subsequent to their appearance at The Great Escape.

Christine and the Queens, darlings of the 2015 Victoires de la Musique awards, played there in 2013.

Perhaps some of this playing over the next few days will go on to similar success. But regardless of whether or not they make any kind of commercial breakthrough, there's a great selection on offer.

Hundreds of acts play across the city, in the closest thing we probably have in the UK to the SXSW festival in America, both an event in itself and a showcase for acts to establish themselves.

Andrea Balency is no stranger to this blog, she plays Tonight (Friday) at the Komedia Studio Bar 9.15pm-9.45pm and on Sunday at the Paganini Ballroom 1.30pm-2.00pm

Bristol, the new project from Marc Collin of Nouvelle Vague. They offer a unique interpretation of 90s trip hop. Bristol plays the Spiegeltent on 16th May 2015 2:15pm - 2:45pm

Camp Claude have featured on this blog before, and play today (Friday) at Carousels 2pm - 2.45pm.

C.A.R. play two shows over the weekend, with a show on Friday  at the Prince Albert from 7.45pm-8.15pm, and another tomorrow (Saturday) at Brighthelm from 1.00am-1.30am.

Forever Pavot have also featured here previously, on account of them being wonderful, and they play at The Hub on Friday 12.30pm-1.00pm

Ibeyi bring their soulful pop blended with Cuban stylings to Brighton and play at Coalition on Saturday, 8.15pm-8.45pm

Saycet brings some cutting edge electronics, and plays on Saturday at Patterns-Downstairs, 2.15pm-2.45pm

Others on the bill include Jeanne Added, Acid Arab and Stal, but having played yesterday you'll have to catch them next time they play the UK.

In the meantime, make the most of the opportunity to catch the acts above while you can.

Saycet: Mirages

A video for the track Mirages by Saycet, an impressive track with an appropriately epic video.

Saycet is a project led by Pierre Lefeuvre

The track comes from their Mirage album which was released earlier this month.

There's something of the M83 sense of scale about it.

It's their third album, following the 2010 Through the Window and the 2006 One Day at Home albums.

Saycet played in London at the Village Underground earlier this week.
