A new music section online for Le Figaro debuts today, with Avant-Scène featuring Perez for its
debut edition.
The singer-songwriter released his debut EP in September, featuring the tracks Une Autre Fois and Gamine.
Prior to embarking as a solo artist, Julien Perez was the frontman of French indie rock band Adam Kesher, who were active from 2007 to 2010, releasing two albums and a number of singles and EPs.
Unlike his work with Adam Kesher, he now performs in French, his music informed by French chanson with an electro backdrop. He cites Christophe and Bashung as influences.
The Avant-Scène video features the track La Vie Nouvelle, an as-yet unreleased number that's expected to appear on his forthcoming debut album.
I've embedded a video featuring some performance and an interview in French, and there is another track performed in full that can watched at the Avant-Scène page on the Lefigaro.fr website
Avant-Scène is set to be a weekly feature of the paper's website, focusing on showcasing the artists of tomorrow, so hopefully we can look forward to some more interesting music in weeks and months to come.
