Vitalic: Use it or Lose it

A new track by Vitalic, with the release of the track Use it or Lose it being released

It's the second track to emerge from his forthcoming album Voyager which comes out on January 20.

It's his fourth album

Use it or Lose it  follows the the track  Waiting For The Stars which came out in October last year.

Vitalic has just begun a tour, with shows in France this month and across Europe in February before coming to the  UK in March with dates in Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and London.

He's back to mainland Europe after, with shows including a night at the Olympia in Paris on March 23.

Zombie Zombie: UK tour

It's been a while since I've featured Zombie Zombie on the blog, and the fact that they're touring the UK at
the moment certainly gives me good cause to.

They played Glasgow last night, play Manchester tonight and London the following night.

There are many bands playing electronic music, but Zombie Zombie are among the few to make full use of the potential for the sinister in their medium and exploit the underlying strangeness of electronic sound.

Electonic music was a common element in horror movies of the 70s and 80s, and Zombie Zombie have not forgotten this dusty corner of the record collection.

They're previously provided live soundtracks for the film Battleship Potemkin, and have released their versions of the horror soundtracks composed by John Carpenter for his movies.

However, their own material shows that they're a great band in their own right.

Miss Kittin: What to wear

France's Miss Kittin is one of the acts to play this weekend's Lovebox festival in London, one of the most
prestigious music events to take place in the capital.

The three day even focuses on dance music, with acts like Azealia Banks, Rudimental, Wiley, Plan B and Goldfrapp taking the stage from Friday to Sunday.

Miss Kittin plays at the event on the Sunday.

The DJ, singer and songwriter known as to some as Caroline Hervé released her Calling from the Stars album earlier this year, and , as I said at the time, it's as perfect a taste of state of the art electronica as you could hope for, with innovative sounds from dancefloor to more ambient work.

If anything, repeated listening to the album has made it grow on me even more.

She's been active since the 90s, and the experience she's gathered since then at the forefront of electronic music is clearly evident.

She's currently running a remix competition for her track Maneki Neko and also released the track What to Wear at the end of June as the lead track on an EP.

Yelle: A + B = C

A new track by Yelle, a cover of French synth-pop track A + B = C.

The song was originally recorded by the duo Mathématiques Modernes on their 1981 album Les Visiteurs Du Soir.

The original track was produced by Jacno, the late punk and electro musician who was half of Elli & Jacno as well as a founder of punk pioneers Stinky Toys.

Yelle are currently at work on their third album, a follow-up to 2011's Safari Disco Club.

Safari Disco Club saw the trio attract a huge amount of international attention. They played live extensively, playing dates in the USA and supporting Katy Perry on her tour.

One new track, L'Amour Parfait emerged in February.

Meanwhile, the Mathématiques Modernes album, very much a classic of its time, was re-released on vinyl in Febuary on the US-based Medical Records label. 

Arne Vinzon: La route de Dreux

A cool piece of electronica with Arne Vinzon's song La route de Dreux.

The track comes from their forthcoming album Les belles structure.

It's the second album by the three-piece that consists of Arnaud Vincent, Matthieu and Fabien Devos. Their debut Le Monde Entier was released in May 2011, although the band was then only a two piece of Arnaud and Matthieu. Arnaud writing the songs, Matthieu adding the keyboards and the technology.

A 7' of a remixed Japanese version of the track Lente Dépression came out earlier this year.

La route de Dreux is the second piece from their new album to emerge, following the track Je ne partirai pas, je n'irai nulle part.

Both tracks show a sophisticated elegance and artistic vision that suggests the album will be one of this year's most interesting releases.

Their album Les belles structures is due to be released in France on May 6, and they play in Paris on June 3 to mark the album's release.

Kavinsky: Protovision

A new track from Kavinsky, with the song Protovision coming out ahead of an album to be released next year.

It's another slice of electro noir, brooding and atmospheric.

Kavinsky's best known for the track Nightcall from the film Drive, and while this doesn't stray a million miles from that track, that's no bad thing by any measure.

Kavinsky's work is reminiscent of the soundtrack work by the likes of Tangerine Dream in the early 80s. Similarly you could imagine the track on an 80s TV show like Miami Vice, a show that was originally to feature Tangerine Dream's music in the titles.

There's a nod to Night Rider and Terminator in the video, and the music has a similar retro futurist feel.

Kavinsk's album Outrun is expected to be released next year.

(we are) Fools: Youth 101.

A great piece of French electro rock by (we are) Fools, the track Youth 101.

The six-piece act makes a sophisticated music that they describe as an electric meeting  etween pop melody, melancholic writing and all genres of electronic music.

Rather than just a studio project, the band performs live regularly in Paris, and have played several gigs so far this year.
