Rhum for Pauline: Florida

A new clip from Rhum for Pauline, with the track Florida.

The track comes from their Leaving Florida album, which was released at the end of September.

The track Pan Peter was also released with a clip just before the album emerged, with a video with a very different flavour indeed.

Florida is a key track from their debut album, a song that grows to an epic scale and reveals itself as a sophisticated piece of work. Much like the album itself.

Rhum for Pauline played the Badaboum in Paris last night and have a couple of live dates in their diaries, with a show in St Nazaire on November 10 and another in Reims on December 18.

A clip for the track Pan Peter by Rhum For Pauline, a band who are no strangers to this blog.

I've featured the band before, as well as Lenparrot, side project of singer Romain Lallement.

The Nantes-based five piece have taken their time to release their debut, having released their first EP in 2010, but it's given them the opportunity to mature nicely and to take on some of the ideas that they've pursued in side projects.

If this track is any measure, their debut album will certainly have been worth the wait.

The video's an appropriately haunting visualisation of the track.

The video comes ahead of the release of their new album, entitled Leaving Florida, which is due to be released at the end of this week.

Rhum for Pauline play the Badaboum in Paris on November 4.

Fvtvr Festival

A three-day festival event taking place in Nantes from today sees some of the talent signed to Futur Records take to the stage in the Breton city.

The indie label has been around since 2008 and has been gaining ground since then, home as it is to acts like Minitel Rose and Rhum for Pauline, as well as  Pegase and Disco Anti Napoleon.

Band members overlap and resources are pooled in the best indie tradition, leading to what has become a very healthy and vigorous scene, producing some very fine quality music indeed.

The festival features College, Disco Anti Napoleon, Rhum for Pauline, Jerry Paper, Maethelvin, Romantic Warriors as well as DJ Moment, Phil Tremble nad the Fvtvre all Stars DJs, with shows at the Trempolino, Le Lieu Unique and Le Chien Stupide.

New Acts: Rhum for Pauline - When Endless Ends

Rhum for Pauline are a five-piece  Nantes-based act.

The track features on their new three-track EP, alongside Pursuit and a live version of their song Boyshake Lady.

For a band yet to release a debut album, Rhum for Pauline have been around for a few years, their debut EP Miami emerging in 2010, followed by the Can Reach the Top EP in 2012. They've had the rare chance to mature nicely, working with other musicians and other projects over the years to craft their sound.

I've previously featured Lenparrot, side project from Rhum for Pauline vocalist Romain Lallement.

The band now features him alongside two original members Thibaud Vanhooland and Emile Ployaert, and Raphaël d'Hervez from Pégase on keyboards and former Pony Pony Run Run member Antonin Pierre on guitar.

The band are on FVTVR Records, home of the likes of Disco Anti Napoléon, Minitel Rose and  Pégase, who produced and mixed When Endless Ends.

The debut album from Rhum for Pauline is expected in September.

Before then, they play at the Nüba in Paris on June 20 and are on the bill for the FVTVR festival in Nantes alongside labelmates and associates from July  9 - 11

New Acts: Lenparrot - Gena

The video was directed by  Johanna Sephora Benaïnous and Elsa Parra

The track comes from the band's debut EP, entitled Aquoibonism, which was released earlier this month.

Two tracks preceded the five-track EP as singles, Les yeux en cavale and A Fake Prophet.

Lenparrot is the latest project from  Romain Lallement, a musician from Nantes, singer with Rhum for Pauline
Lenparrot present a minimal and modern take on pop, stylish and glossy.

Rhum for Pauline, meanwhile, have just completed work on their debut album.
